Founder & Funder, CleanTech & Sustainability Edition

Event recap

At CWN we believe that there is no greater joy than purposefully connecting people together.

Time and time again we hear from founders how hard it is to raise investment without warm connections. We also hear that investors want a trusted filter when it comes to introductions because the deal flow is not the problem - it’s the quality deal flow that they want. This feedback prompted us to design a networking event full of conversations and connections!

Last week, we successfully launched our inaugural Founder & Funder event series. In an hour-long session, we connected 14 thriving female-led startups in CleanTech, with 5 passionate U.S. investors to stimulate a long-lasting relationship.

The session was followed up by a private networking event where investors and CWN’s sponsors and partners discussed their ideas on how to sustain innovation in the CleanTech space. We also learned that use of the term ClimateTech is globally used and that we should adopt the new name for our future events. Thanks for the input!

We would like to congratulate the selected startups:

GainX, RWI Synthetics, Vivid Machines, Ruth, The S-Factor Co., Nurture Growth Bio Fertilizer Inc., Element 4, Livestock Water Recycling, Hyon Software Inc., Evercloak Inc., Oxia Initiative, EcoSystem Informatics Inc., CleanInnoGen, and Vermillion Power Technologies

And thank the investors for joining us: Laurie Menoud, Michael Tran, Daniel Matross, John Robinson, and Allison Myers.

We were also pleased to welcome our community partners and sponsors at the event: Evok Innovations, Clean Resource Innovation Network, Foresight, Bioenterprise, BDC Capital Women in Technology Fund, and Innovacorp.

Last but not least, we'd like to thank our event sponsor, Toronto Stock Exchange for supporting female-led startups in the ClimateTech space, and their support of the Canadian Women's Network!
